Chapter 23 – The Next Stage 

The nurse stared at me with a shocked look as she flipped the file in her hands.

“But Miss… Doctor Troy is she started to say but I cut her off sharply. 

“Canary bird, nurse, go get Troy,” I insisted. 

When she left Damon stared at me, a smile shining in his eyes. 

“What?” I queried. 

“Canary bird, really?” he asked. 

I shrugged, “It got the message across, right?” 

Before he could reply the door opened and Troy stumbled in out of breath. 

‘Mrs. Reeds -” he started to say but I corrected him sharply. 

‘Miss Maple, isn’t that what you and your friend wanted? To make sure the next Mrs. Reeds is my cousin, Lily,” I scoffed. 

‘I had no hand in this, Ms. Maple, everything was all your hus- Donald’s idea. I told him it was oo extreme but he wouldn’t listen,” Troy rambled. 

scoffed, “So now you’re innocent.” 

‘I’m really sorry, Ms. Maple, I didn’t want it to escalate like this. Please have mercy, I’ll do whatever you want,” he begged. 

smirked, “The only thing I want is my mother’s heart back.” 

Troy stared at me with a shocked expression, “But… but if I take out the heart… Nadia is stil alive… without the heart she’ll die,” he stuttered. 

grinned, “Bingo! Just like how my mom died when you ripped out her heart to save Nadia.” 

‘I didn’t know!” he cried, “The documents, Donald had them with your signature.” 

scoffed, “You’re lying. You knew those documents were fake and I didn’t sign shit.” 

He started stuttering, trying to justify his actions but I waved him off. 

‘I don’t want to hear anything. All I want to hear is that you’ll return my mother’s heart,” I stated. 

‘But your mother is dead, won’t you let Nadia live? Her legs are already damaged, she can neve walk again, she’s not a threat to you anymore,” Troy begged. 

walked up to him and smiled, “When my mother was crippled did you spare her life?” 

‘I begged them to but they wouldn’t listen,” he said. 

I shrugged, “And now I’m not listening. So go do what I’ve instructed you to do since that’s al you’re good at, listening and acting.” 

Troy’s shoulders slumped as he started to walk away but then I stopped him. 

“That’s not all, Troy” I grinned. 

He stopped and turned around to face me, “What else?” he asked. 

“You know how you made me sterile? I know you’ve been seeing Lily, I want you to also make her

sterile without using anesthesia and I wanna be in the surgery room, you’ll perform the procedure,” I stated. 

Troy stared at me like I had just punched him in the gut. He staggered backwards until he leaned against a wall, panting. 

“I… I… Can’t do this,” he choked out. 

I turned to Damon, “Damon, would you please call our friends at the medical license office and also some policemen so they can come take care of Troy for us?” 

Damon smirked, “Right away, love.” 

He was already typing on his phone when Troy went down on his knees before me. 

‘P… please,” he cried, “Please have mercy.” 

shrugged, “This is me having mercy, Troy, she wasn’t raped just filmed.” 

I don’t think I can perform the surgery, please let someone else do it or use anesthesia,” he ›egged. 

Stop wasting my time, Troy, should he call or not?” I groaned. 

roy stared at both of us and then he went to appease Damon probably hoping he would be able 

o talk sense into me. 

Please, sir, help me talk to her. What’s done is already done. Recreating the experiences and 

ain on others is futile, it doesn’t change anything,” he begged. 

Damon shrugged, “It doesn’t change anything, true, it doesn’t even give her closure but at leas he gets the satisfaction of watching the same people who put her in that same position go hrough it and experience the same pain she experienced.” 

turned to Damon, “You always say the right things. Now I feel like kissing you again.” 

Damon smirked, “I’m right here, baby, what’s stopping you?” 

chuckled then turned a serious expression to Troy. 

Do you understand now and will you do as I’ve said? Or do you still need further incentive?” I Isked him. 

He started to speak again when I stopped him by playing the voice note of Lily and her father. Do you know that your beloved Lily was planning to sell you out just so she could have everything you all worked for? 

saw the way his face twisted into a frown and I smirked. Time to move onto the next stage.
