Chapter 7 – Kira Is Gone 

I tapped my phone furiously, dialing the number for the third time but it just went straight to voicemail then it became unavailable. 

“Donnie, what’s going to happen now?” Lily asked, appearing beside me immediately. 

“How should I know?!” I snapped, irritated. 

Lily stared at me with shock, her eyes widening slightly then she started crying. 

I let out a sigh, “I didn’t mean it like that. I’m just very nervous.” 

I peeked out from under the stairs where I was hiding. The press was attacking Lily’s father and asking him numerous questions. 

The man seemed at a loss for what to say. We all are because we hadn’t expected something 

ike this. 

Today was supposed to be the annual ceremony and oath-taking ceremony where I would be sworn in as the CEO of Maple Group, Kira’s father’s company. 

But thirty minutes ago, the server was hacked and numerous videos played online showcasing my involvement teaming up with Lily and her father against Kira and her family. 

The tables had turned immediately and the media we had invited for a momentous occasion nstantly backfired against us. 

had secretly run away to hide and called Kira hoping she’d clear up this mess so I could forgive her but the bitch had insulted me and hung up. 

‘What about Kira? She’d do anything you ask her to do, Donnie, just call her,” Lily said. 

‘I keep calling her but her number isn’t available, I fear she may have blocked me,” I muttered. 

Lily frowned, “She can’t block you, Donnie, she loves you.” 

shrugged, “I’m sure she’s at home. We can find out the truth from her.” 

Henry strode toward us, his face red with anger. 

‘How did this happen, Donald?” he asked me. 

I shrugged, “I have no idea. I destroyed all the evidence, I’m sure this is the work of Kira.” 

‘But how is she able to do this? We’ve taken away everything and she’s lost her dignity, what else does she have?” Henry asked. 

I shrugged, “If we can get back home then I’ll ask her.” 

Just then the press spotted us and ran toward us, the sound of running footsteps and flashing camera lights filled the air. 

“Mr. Reeds, is it true that you set your wife up and ruined her life?” 

“The contents of the video, is it real?” 

“Did you try to kill your wife?” 

“Are you responsible for your brother’s death, Henry?” 

The questions kept pouring in as the guards tried to shield us from them.

Fortunately, they managed to pry us outside where we met the board members who were equally hiding away from the press. 

All their faces were red with anger as they glared at us. 

“If what we’ve seen today holds any truth then you will regret it,” the board chairman spat. 

Henry spoke before I could say anything. 

“How could you even say such a thing, Jones? This is my late brother and his family we’re talking about! I’d never do anything to hurt them,” Henry snapped. 

“Then why is this video out there today?!” another board member asked. 

Henry shrugged, “Someone is trying to ruin us. It may be the same people who attacked my brother and his family.” 

“We can’t do anything else in the company without the consent of Kira. Bring her to the company. Until then we’ll wait for the police to conclude their investigations and know who is doing this,” they said. 

desperately wanted to protest but I was boiling with anger. 

How dare Kira pull this stunt on an important day like this one? 

couldn’t wait to get back home and wring her neck while she begs for mercy. 

‘Fucking bitch!” I mumbled. 

Lily held me as we entered the car and I drove off. Henry kept muttering words in the vehicle. 

‘How could she do this? How had she even found out? Who helped her?” he asked. 

shrugged just as I pulled into the driveway, “We’re home now, maybe you can ask her.” 

We all stepped out of the car and headed inside. But I met an empty mansion. 

Everything was still in the house but something felt different. 

Everywhere was eerily quiet. It was as if the air itself had changed. 

walked upstairs as I called out to her but no one answered, only her name echoed back. 

‘Kira, don’t test me!” I snapped. 

pulled open her room door but I saw Lily’s things and I remembered Kira had left her room. 

I went to the storage room where she had been staying and she wasn’t there. The room was equally empty and I couldn’t find anything that belonged to Kira. 

‘I can’t find her!” Henry yelled downstairs. 

‘It’s like she’s disappeared from the house,” Lily added. 

I nodded, it felt like she had disappeared. I walked downstairs and that’s when I saw my study door was open. 

I picked up the file on the table and saw the ring beside it. 

It was the wedding ring I had given Kira. I opened the file and my eyes widened with shock. 

“How… how… how could this be?” I stuttered. 

Staring back at me was a divorce agreement with my signature scrawled at the bottom. Lily and Henry were beside me immediately as they stared at the document. 

Chapter 7 – Kira le Cone

Lily’s face crumpled into anger, “How could you have divorced her without acquiring the company first?!” 

I blinked, “I… I didn’t… I have no idea.” 

“But this is your signature,” Henry pointed out. 

I rolled my eyes, “I know that!” 

“We have to find that girl else, everything we’ve been working for these past three years all goes down the drain along with us in prison,” Henry said. 

I released a sigh as a memory flashed in my mind. Kira had brought me a document a few days ago when I was in a hurry to go see Lily. 

That must have been when I signed the papers without reading them. 

“She planned everything from the start,” I mumbled. 

Lily suddenly broke into tears. “What are we going to do, Donnie, I can’t lose you and we can’t raise our child in jail.” 

I hugged her, kissing her forehead, “Nobody is going to jail except Kira. We’ll charge her for everything.” 

Henry nodded, “Yes, but first you have to find her.” 

I dialed the number of a private investigator and the call connected immediately. 

“Hello, it’s me. I need you to find someone, I’m willing to pay any amount,” I stated.
