Ch. His Infidelity 12 His Infidelity 12

12

The press conference ended in a rush.

As I glanced around at the excited faces in the crowd, I knew full well that once these people left the venue, it wouldn’t even take ten minutes before the news of Ericsson Ventures pulling out of the project would spread across the entire internet.

Fueled by a mix of rage and resentment, I stormed out of the venue and headed straight for the

company.

Behind me, Haven called out repeatedly, her voice anxious and urgent. But I didn’t even spare her a glance.

I didn’t have time to care about anything else right now.

The moment I arrived at the office, my secretary rushed over with the withdrawal documents from Ericsson Ventures in hand.

“What’s going on?” I snapped, my voice rising sharply. “Why are they saying Ericsson Ventures already started pulling out a week ago?”

My tone grew more agitated by the second. “Why are we only receiving this notice today, on the day of the press conference?!”

My fury finally boiled over, erupting into a full-blown outburst.

My secretary stood by, trembling as she tried to explain. “Sir… they did inform us a week ago. I reported it to you at the time.”

She hesitated, then cautiously added, “Sir, you said Ma’am Willow was just upset. That she was acting on impulse. You told us not to take her seriously… that it was all fake. So we…”

froze.

For a moment, my mind went blank. Then, bit by bit, the memory came back-yes, something ike that had indeed happened.

t was right after Willow had come out of surgery. She had just lost the baby.

Back then, I assumed she was acting irrationally out of grief, that she’d lost her mind after losing our child, and that her threats were just emotional outbursts.

But now, I realized-a bullet fired a week ago had struck me square in the brow today.

slumped into my chair, defeated, my hand reaching for my phone as I prepared to call Willow.

But just then, Haven stepped through the door.

‘Reed,” she said softly, “I know you’re upset about the project. But I think Willow’s just making a drama. She probably just wants to remind you how important she is to you.”

She walked closer, her voice gentle. “If you reach out to her now, she’ll only think her little tricks worked. She’ll feel encouraged to play games like this again in the future.”

“If you really want her to come back, then… let me apologize to her. Once I do that, I’m sure she’ll come back to see you.”

Her gaze dropped slightly, and she added in a quiet but steady voice, “Even if I have to suffer a

little, it’s fine. If Willow wants me to abort this baby… then I’ll do it. As long as you’re okay, that’s all that matters.”

Her words were firm and unwavering.

After she spoke, she slowly touched her belly, eyes filled with a reluctant sorrow.

“I just want to have you for a little while,” she whispered. “Just for a short time. Let it be our last moment together.”

I stared at her, moved beyond words.

This woman was willing to give up everything-even the child in her womb-for me.

Slowly, I reached out and pulled Haven into my arms.

“You don’t have to go that far,” I said quietly. “It’s alright.”

I fell into a thoughtful silence for a moment before adding, “Maybe you’re right. I don’t believe Willow would go this far.”

“In a few days, once she sees this game doesn’t work, she’ll come back on her own,” I muttered.

As I spoke, I held Haven tighter and tighter in my embrace.

The two of us slowly sank into each other’s warmth.

And eventually, the CEO’s office was filled with passion.
