Ch. His Infidelity 18 His Infidelity 18

Reed’s POV

A loud crash echoed in my mind as if an explosion had gone off in my skull. My brain went completely blank.

I stared ahead, stunned, my breath caught in my throat.

What the fuck did I just hear?

It was too absurd. Too impossible. For a full minute, I couldn’t even move.

And then, fury surged through me like a tidal wave.

With a snarl, I swept everything off the desk in front of me-papers, folders, even a ceramic per holder-all crashing onto the floor.

“What nonsense are you spouting?!” I roared. “How could I possibly be divorced from Willow?!”

Kade shrank back like a frightened dog, looking like he wanted to bury his head in the floor.

“T-This is the copy I requested from the police station, Sir,” he stammered, his voice barely abov a whisper as he held out a sheet of paper. “The divorce certificate… The signature on it is undeniably yours.”

The moment those words left his mouth, a terrifying silence fell over the study. It was the kind of quiet that chilled the bones-oppressive, deadly.

I snatched the paper from his trembling hands, eyes locked on the document as if it were a snake ready to strike.

My gaze landed on the signature.

That familiar, unmistakable signature.

I squeezed my eyes shut, as if denying it would make it disappear.

But deep down, the memory began to surface-fragmented and hazy, like something dredged up from a bad dream.

It was my signature.

There was no denying it.

But I had no memory of signing that divorce agreement. It must’ve happened without my knowledge… It had to have!

No matter what, I would never accept it.

I refused to recognize that damn document!

My jaw clenched. My expression turned dark and menacing as I gripped the copy tighter and tighter until finally, with a vicious rip, I tore it to shreds.

Kade flinched but said nothing.

I took a deep breath, forcing myself to calm down. Then I picked up the rest of the documents he had brought.

I flipped them open.

Inside was a detailed account of everything Willow had done in recent months.

It started after the car accident.

From that moment on, she had begun quietly withdrawing Ericsson Ventures’s investments.

She had planned everything-all just to leave me.

The realization cut deeper than any knife.

My heart twisted in agony; I couldn’t breathe.

Willow must have found out the truth about the accident. That was the only explanation for why she was so determined to leave.

And what had I done during that time?

Not only had I failed to make her stay. I had even sided with Haven.

I’d helped Haven hurt her.

I hurt Willow.

Tears welled in my eyes, slipping down my cheeks before I could stop them.

Now-only now-did I finally understand.

Willow had truly, completely given up on me.

But I couldn’t accept that. I wouldn’t accept it.

I wouldn’t let her go… no matter what it took.

My expression hardened. Determination settled into every line of my face, and my eyes burned with an almost obsessive light.

“I don’t care what you have to do,” I growled. “Find Willow. No matter what, I can’t lose her. I won’ lose her!”

Kade’s POV

I hesitated, my lips parting, but no words came out at first.

I didn’t understand why Reed was suddenly so desperate now-why he hadn’t done this sooner.

But in my heart, I knew one thing.

Even if he did manage to find Willow, there was no guarantee she’d come back. In fact… she probably wouldn’t.

I struggled for a moment, then cautiously voiced my thoughts. “Sir… even if you do find her, there’s a chance she won’t return. Isn’t it better to just let things be? After all… the one you like now is Ma’am Haven, right?”

I spoke gently, sincerely.

I wasn’t trying to offend; I genuinely believed this was for the best. I owed Willow too much to wish suffering upon her.

Even if RH Limited was heading toward bankruptcy without her, I couldn’t bring myself to let her walk back into a nightmare.

But Reed’s expression darkened further, and he turned to glare at me with eyes cold enough to freeze hell.

“Who told you,” he asked in a hushed tone, “I don’t love Willow?”

Reed’s POV

I took a step forward, my voice low and deadly.

“The only woman I’ve ever loved in this lifetime… is Willow.”

As soon as the words left my lips, the door burst open.

Haven stood there, her face pale as death.

She had heard everything.

Her eyes brimmed with disbelief, pain, and rage all at once.

“Reed,” she choked out, “you said the only woman you love is Willow… Then what about me? What do I mean to you?”

Breathless, she continued, “I thought we were in love. I thought this was mutual. But now it seems… I’ve been the only one with feelings all along.”

Her voice cracked as the words poured out, thick with heartbreak. “If that’s how it is, then l’c rather just walk away.”

“When I first got involved with you, it was because of your love. But now…” Her voice lowered. “I you don’t love me anymore, then there’s no reason for me to stay.”

Tears streamed down her cheeks.

And without waiting for my response, she turned and ran out the door.
