Haven’s POV
I thought Reed would come after me.
But even after I ran all the way to the villa’s front door, there was still no sound from upstairs-nc footsteps, no movement.
Slowly, I lowered my hand, tears streaming down my face. Yet my eyes were laced with Venomous hatred.
‘Damn you, Willow. Even now, you still want to fight me?”
bit my lip hard, already plotting how to deal with that woman from afar.
Reed’s POV
Jpstairs, my face was dark and cold.
Go bring Haven back,” I ordered grimly. “If she thinks she can run away that easily-she car dream on.”
The words had barely left my lips when Kade turned to carry out the command.
Haven’s POV
n no time, I saw a pair of bodyguards sprinting toward me outside the villa.
The moment I spotted them, my eyes lit up.
just knew this trick would still work-as long as I cried, Reed would soften.
Besides, I was still carrying his child.
Even if he didn’t care about me, he’d have to care about the baby.
Reed wants me to go back now? I thought the person he loved most was Willow?” I muttered, ears brimming again as I slowly turned back. “Tell him this-if I’m not the one he loves, I’m not joing back.”
barely had time to finish speaking before one of the bodyguards grabbed my shoulder with orce and began dragging me back without a word.
‘anic surged. Something was wrong.
struggled against the iron grip, dread creeping in.
Let go of me! What do you think you’re doing?! Aren’t you afraid I’ll tell Reed how you treated ne?” I shouted, raising my voice. “I’m pregnant with his child, in case all of you forgot!”
But my threats fell on deaf ears. The guard’s face remained blank as he dragged me straight oward the study.
A heavy unease started to take root in my chest.
Ever since I returned to Montana, Reed had never treated me like this.
Something was very wrong.
Once shoved inside the study, I looked up and saw him-Reed, standing by the window.
His expression was unreadable, face frozen, but his eyes… his eyes held a coldness that chilled
me to the bone.
Swallowing my fear, I rushed forward and clung to his arm.
“Reed, you really need to rein in your bodyguards. You wouldn’t believe how he just manhandled me! Look! My arm-my shoulder-they’re all red!”
I said nothing about what had just happened outside. Instead, I leaned into playing the victim, letting my voice tremble with grievance.
I was testing him, trying to see how much he still felt for me. If there was anything left at all.
But then, he slowly reached out and placed both hands around my neck.
For a split second, my heart leapt. I thought he was going to embrace me, maybe even kiss me.
But then his grip tightened like a vice.
‘You dared to lay a hand on Willow? You framed her?” he said, his voice cold as cracking ice. ‘Who gave you the nerve? I’ve indulged you too much-let you trick me, manipulate me, and hurt ner.”
‘You,” he whispered, “deserve to die.”
My eyes rolled back as I gasped for air, choking and clawing at his hands with what little strength I had.
‘R-Reed… it wasn’t… me… I didn’t… the baby…”
The moment he heard me mention the baby, his hands finally loosened.
collapsed to the floor, barely avoiding suffocation.
With a furious scowl, Reed flung me aside like trash, his eyes burning with pure rage and disgust.
‘I won’t let you off,” he growled. “And I won’t let you die so easily either!”
His expression twisted into something dark and murderous.
Just one look from him sent chills tearing down my spine.
