That day, I didn’t answer Dyson’s question. Instead, I hurried back into the villa.
This villa-he had it specially prepared for me when he found out I was going to France. It wasn’t until I stepped inside that I realized just how much thought he had put into it. Every inch of the place had been customized to my tastes.
The flowers I liked, the interior design, even the furniture-everything reflected my preferences.
There were even paintings by the artist I’d recently become fond of.
I had never even mentioned that to Reed.
And yet Dyson, from halfway across the world, had quietly gathered pieces of my life, detail by detail, until he built me this entire home.
For a moment, I was completely speechless.
In the days that followed, I saw Dyson almost every day.
Through my actions, I made it clear: taking revenge on Reed was something I was more than capable of.
Within the first month after I left the States, the RH Limited declared bankruptcy. As for Reed, he vanished without a trace.
I didn’t care where he went.
I knew that as long as I could recover all the evidence he had once erased, no matter where he was hiding, the end for both him and Haven would be behind bars.
When Dyson saw the news about RH Limited’s bankruptcy, only then did he truly believe I had it in me to strike back.
He looked at me with a proud smile that day. He was so pleased, he even gave up one percent of the profits from his new project.
After that, Dyson started “bumping into me” more and more often until eventually, I couldn’t go a day without seeing him.
I didn’t know how to explain my situation to him anymore, so I found a chance to invite him out
and talk.
As soon as we sat down, he casually pulled a small gift box from his coat pocket and handed it to me casually.
Lately, he brought me a gift nearly every time we met.
I had tried refusing them. But he never listened.
What’s more, every single present he gave had been chosen with such care-each one perfectly suited to my tastes.
Once, after I tried to turn one down, he looked at me with a faint trace of sadness in his expression.
“I know you’re not ready to accept me right now,” he said softly, “but can’t you at least accept my

goodwill? Don’t you like the gifts I give you?”
By the end, he’d even resorted to charm-his pretty, fox-like eyes shimmering as he gazed at me with a pitiful look.
In the end, I had no choice but to accept the gifts. Eventually, I got used to it.
I took the gift box from his hands.
As I opened it, I wasn’t surprised to find exactly what I’d been eyeing lately-a ruby ring.
I slipped the ring back into its box and handed him a gift in return-a wristwatch he’d recently mentioned liking.
The moment he saw it, his face lit up with delight.
After dinner, I hesitated for a bit, but then I finally decided to speak plainly.
“Dyson,” I said gently, “I know you have feelings for me. But right now, I just can’t accep someone new into my life. After all those years with him… even if I don’t love him at all anymore I’ve lost the courage to start over with anyone else.”
