Ch. His Infidelity 29 His Infidelity 29

He pressed on, “Let me explain what really happened back then. I swear, I’ll tell you everything, one thing at a time.”

His eyes were filled with sorrow, and the way he extended his hand toward me-so hesitant, sc cautious-only made me feel more repulsed.

didn’t even bother to glance at him. I swatted his hand away without hesitation.

‘Explain?” I scoffed. “What exactly do you have to explain to me?”

‘You want to tell me what?” I could feel my eyes welling up. “That the car accident wasn’t Orchestrated by Haven? That you didn’t choose to let my parents die just to protect her?”

‘That you were willing to abandon the baby in my womb for Haven’s sake-and worse, that you cruelly stripped me of the ability to ever become a mother again, just so she could deliver her child in peace?” I asked breathlessly.

‘One after another,” I said, “which of these things do you think you can actually explain away?”

took a deep breath, glaring at him. “Reed, I don’t know why you’re even here. But between us, here’s nothing left to explain.”

‘I know you loved Haven-so much that you threw away five years of our relationship.” I couldn’t help but shake my head. “You even caused my parents’ deaths.”

‘I gave you two the chance to be together. I let you both barely cling to life in these final days. sn’t that enough?” I asked in frustration.

‘You came to see if I’d died after leaving you, didn’t you?” I sneered. “Well, you’re wrong. I’ll only

ive better and better without you.”

‘Soon enough, I’ll personally send both you and Haven to jail.” I nodded. “That’s how I’ll avenge my parents-and my child.”

By the end, my eyes were red with rage.

Behind me, Dyson watched with visible concern. If I hadn’t repeatedly insisted that he stay back, ne probably would’ve rushed over by now.

Reed obviously hadn’t expected me to be so resolute. His face turned deathly pale.

And in the very next moment, he dropped to his knees with a loud thud.

“Willow,” he said, his voice trembling as he looked at her, desperation flickering in his eyes, know I’ve wronged you, but you once said you’d love me for the rest of your life…”

He took a shaky breath, the words catching in his throat. “Please, just give me one more chance. Back then, I-I wasn’t thinking straight. It was like my brain had been filled with lard.”

“I

His shoulders sagged as guilt pressed down on him. “My relationship with Haven was a

mistake. At the time, I just wanted her to understand how wrong she’d been in the past. I didn’t mean for her to get pregnant.”

His voice dropped to a whisper, thick with regret. “I couldn’t bear to see her go to jail, so I..”

Before he could finish, I lost all control.

With a loud slap, I struck him across the face.

“You sacrificed my parents for that?!” I screamed, voice hoarse with fury. “You chose Haven ove me!”

I stared down at him, my face twisted with hatred.
