Ch. His Infidelity 9 His Infidelity 9

9

Back inside the villa, my mind was still filled with the image of Willow.

‘She walked away so decisively, like she’s been waiting for this day all along.’

A strange ache surfaced in my chest at the thought, and an increasing wave of panic began to grip my heart.

Almost involuntarily, I found myself wanting to turn around, just to see if she was still there.

But just as I took a couple of steps, Haven caught my arm.

Her face was full of pleading.

“Reed, please… don’t go. Not now. If you walk away right now, I don’t know what I’ll do. You told me I’d be your wife tonight.”

Hearing that, I paused mid-step.

Looking at the tears trailing down her cheeks, I forced myself to rationalize. ‘Willow has no family left. She loves me so much-she wouldn’t really leave me.’

Still, a pang of guilt twisted in my chest. Admittedly, what I did today was a bit excessive.

I remembered the cold look in Willow’s eyes when she told me to check the surveillance footage.

‘Is it really not her? Is it Haven?’

My gaze darkened as I looked down at Haven, who was still crying in front of me.

Soon, she pulled me back toward the party hall.

Under the dazzling lights, she held my hand and led me into a graceful waltz, her eyes glimmering with allure.

By all accounts, this version of this woman should’ve captivated me completely.

But-damn it-all I could see in my mind was Willow. Those stubborn, unyielding eyes of hers!

Haven’s POV

Sensing his distraction, my smile faltered. I tilted my head and asked softly, “Reed, what’s wrong?”

“It’s nothing. I’m just a little tired,” he replied, brushing it off.

I wasn’t convinced. I lowered my voice, testing the waters.

“Reed… you’re not just tired, are you? Are you thinking about Willow?”

When I saw hesitation flash across his face, I bit my lip hard.

Tears welled up again as I lowered my gaze and whispered, “If… if you really want to find her, then go. I can handle this on my own. I’ll be okay.”

Reed’s POV

Saying that, she gently pushed me toward the door.

But her face was streaked with tears.

And then her hand settled on her belly.

That small gesture made my heart soften in an instant.

I pulled her into my arms and murmured, guilt creeping into my voice, “Don’t worry. I promised I’d stay with you tonight-and I will. I won’t think about anyone else.”

Only then did Haven finally smile, holding on to me tightly.

The party ended not long after. I’d planned to have my men look into Willow’s whereabouts.

I’ll admit it-earlier today, real panic had started to take root in me.

And right now, I was desperate to see her again.

Just then, Haven stepped out of the bathroom, wearing a lace nightgown.

She approached slowly, a teasing sway in her step, then slipped her hands over my eyes, her breath brushing my ear.

‘Reed… you were so good to me today,” she murmured. “I never thought I’d get to be your wife- even if it’s only for one night.”

She leaned in closer, voice softer now. “Let me thank you, okay?”

Then she began to lower herself, her red lips inching toward me.

But before she could get closer, my hands pushed her away like they had their own mind.

For a moment, all I could see were Willow’s eyes-calm and distant, as if there was no love left in hem at all.

Haven didn’t back down. She got up and wrapped herself around me again.

‘Just for tonight… just this once, you belong to me, okay?” she whispered through her tears. ‘Don’t think about Willow, okay? One night won’t make her disappear. I just want a little of your ime, Reed.”

Her tears slipped down and landed on my hand.

n the end, I leaned down and kissed them away from her cheeks.

I’ll stay here with you tonight. I’m not going anywhere,” I reassured her, my voice hoarse with Juilt.

And under the weight of that promise, our movements grew more and more unrestrained.

n the end, overwhelming passion consumed us both.
