Ch. Ch 2 Three Husbands, One love it wasn’t me Ch 2
Chapter 2
After sending out the package, Evelyn threw all the things she had just sorted into the trash.
The jewelry and designer bags gifted to her by Sebastian, Julian, and Nathaniel, the videos and photos they had taken together over the years, the suits she had personally designed for them–every memory tied to them was now buried in the past.
In this life, Evelyn would never repeat the same mistakes.
She focused entirely on preparing for her wedding, paying no attention to the outside world. After days of selecting her wedding dress and accessories, she returned home only to find Sebastian, Julian, and Nathaniel gathered around Daphne.
One was adjusting the air conditioning, another was carefully blowing on medicine to cool it down, and the last was draping a blanket over her shoulders–fussing over her with endless concern.
Watching Daphne being pampered like a princess, a trace of self–mockery flickered in Evelyn’s eyes.
Their affection was so obvious. How had she failed to see it in her past life?
For a moment, her heart churned with bitterness and suffocating heaviness.
Just as she was lost in thought, Daphne noticed her and shot up like a startled bird, her face full of fearful deference. “Miss Caldwell,
you’re back. I’ll go draw your bath and prepare dinner right away. Please wait just a moment.”
She moved to stand, but Sebastian pressed her back down. “Daphne hasn’t fully recovered yet. It’s not like there aren’t other servants in the house, Evelyn. You can have someone else handle these trivial tasks.”
Julian and Nathaniel chimed in, “Given how badly Daphne was hurt, Evelyn, just let her rest and recuperate.”
“If the household is really short on staff, we can transfer a few servants over to help. There’s no need to order Daphne around.”
Evelyn hadn’t even spoken a word since entering, yet she was already being bombarded with accusations.
She exhaled softly, her gaze lowering. “I’m aware that she’s merely the daughter of our butler, not an actual servant. I’ve never forced her to do anything. Since you care so much about her, why not take her into your own homes? That way, you can dote on her day and
night without having to worry.”
Daphne’s eyes widened. She dropped to her knees, kowtowing frantically. “Miss Caldwell, it’s my fault! I shouldn’t have slacked off just because I was sick. Please don’t drive me and my father away, okay? I’ll do the chores right now–right now!”
Her forehead was red from knocking against the floor, tears streaming down her face as if she had suffered some grave injustice.
At the sight of her tears, Sebastian, Julian, and Nathaniel’s expressions darkened.
They immediately pulled her up, shielding her behind them, and turned to Evelyn with barely contained anger.
“Daphne hasn’t done anything wrong. Are you really going to throw her out for no reason? Must you bully a young girl like this?”
“She was still thinking of drawing your bath and cooking for you despite her injuries. You show no concern for her well–being, and now you want to force her out? Do you have no compassion at all?”
“Now she’s even more hurt because of you. If she dares not speak up about her pain in the future and pushes herself to the brink, will you finally be satisfied if something happens to her?”
Watching their instinctive protectiveness, Evelyn’s expression grew colder. “All I did was suggest you take her away. Does that count as bullying her? In your eyes, am I really that unreasonable, arrogant, and spoiled? So no matter what grievances she suffers, it must always be my fault?”
Under her relentless questions, the entire living room fell silent.
Seeing their stunned faces, a deep sense of powerlessness welled up in Evelyn’s heart.
She no longer had the desire to speak another word and retreated to her bedroom alone.

Just as she had calmed down, Daphne knocked on her door, holding a cup of coffee, her face timid and fearful. “I’m sorry, Miss Caldwell. Please don’t be angry with the three young heirs. They were just worried about me and spoke out of urgency. It’s my fault you argued with them. If you must blame someone, blame me.”
Having lived through her past life, Evelyn knew this was just another act–Daphne playing the victim while deliberately stirring up trouble. She refused to engage. “Leave the coffee and get out of my room.”
Hearing her icy tone, Daphne grew even more aggrieved but didn’t dare say more.
Then, she “accidentally” tipped over the coffee.
The scalding liquid splashed onto Evelyn, turning her skin red and raising blisters.
Evelyn let out a muffled groan and shoved away Daphne, who was reaching for tissues to “help.”
But Daphne took the opportunity to stumble backward, slamming her head against the edge of a table. A bloody gash split open on her forehead.
A shrill, agonized scream instantly echoed through the entire villa.
Evelyn barely had time to react before the door flew open–Sebastian, Julian, and Nathaniel burst into the room.
At the sight of Daphne lying unconscious in a pool of blood, all three panicked.
Julian shoved Evelyn aside as Sebastian immediately scooped Daphne into his arms. Nathaniel pressed a hand to her bleeding wound.
They shielded Daphne as they sprinted out, not even glancing at Evelyn, who had been knocked into a glass display cabinet.
The glass shattered, shards flying everywhere and slicing deep cuts into her skin.
Blood soaked through her clothes. Her face twisted in pain, her body trembling uncontrollably.
Watching their retreating figures, Evelyn could no longer hold back–tears spilled from her eyes.
Her heart ached so fiercely she could barely breathe. Biting her lip to stifle her sobs, only one thought remained in her mind—She would vanish from their world.
Never again would her path cross theirs.
